I will never forget your care & kindness. You saved me, thank you & all the staff in Waterford maternity, in the ante/labour/post natal wards. I have great experiences of giving birth to both my girls there. Your care, compassion & kindness was really amazing.

At the beginning of the Covid-19 crisis, I was nervous going into work on public transport. The cases were still in the single digits and there was no evidence of community transmission taking place yet. Yet you put yourselves on the frontlines, sacrificing time with family and loved ones, working long hours and working through the emotional impact of fearing for your own safety and the loss of people in your care. I can’t provide you with PPE to keep you safe and I can’t take the emotional affects of working in a healthcare crisis away from you but I can start with a Thank You. So thank you for your bravery, compassion and care. I wish you a very happy International Nurses Day and I hope you know how much you’re appreciated on the 12th of May and on every other day of the year.
The most amazing kind woman. She saw me through the early parts of 5 of my 7 pregnancies, seeing 3 successful and 2 losses. Her understanding, caring and thoughtfulness made both scary worrying times through rocky starts and heartbreaking losses easier with her honesty and kindness. The second I heard about this site I immediately thought of her as her positive approach and help is inspiring and I will never ever forget how much her kindness affected me, and I try to pay it forward.

I am from Bulgaria and I’ve got just few things to say in my country this is very invaluable to be a nurse but for me as a human being this is the most satisfying job. I would love to thank everybody who helped me in my professional career. And just to tell Nurses are great 😀
Nurses work is invaluable to the care of the patients.
My Owen had a heart attack when he was 45. The nurses in the ward at Waterford Hospital were terrific. They were so professional and completely on top of their brief. I think they saved his life. I was never so grateful. My own experience of nurses is equally great. I remember when I was totally exhausted, a nurse looked after me in DL hospital and it lifted me completely becuase I was so down dealing with Owen’s Alzheimers. I have never forgotten that kindness in that hospital that morning. Maya Angelou said, “You will never forget how someone makes you feel.” She is right – completely.

I would love to thank all the Nurses, especially the very special ones who became a part of our family, who supported myself and my beloved wife during my reconvalestation after traumatic series of surgeries.
As a child I had to have surgery on my hip and I still remember the nurses coming in and playing with me while my mam went to get coffee. They made it a less stressful experience everyone and I’ll never forget it!
I’d like to thank the nurse in Dr. O’Byrnes Surgery in New Ross. When she helped me get my first bloods taken by letting me know what to expect, easing my fear of needles.
I want to thank my aunt Trisha who was the nurse who took care of my mother all throughout her difficult hip replacement surgery and helped our family is through the long healing process. It was a kindness I we won’t soon forget.

Thank you to all the nurses in the ASU in St. Vincent’s Hospital for making me a better nurse. A special thank you to Eimear the CNM2 for keeping me sane on multiple occasions. I don’t know what the patients would do without all the hard work done by the amazing nurses that work here.
I remember Ed a nurse that could always get my bloods without poking me 50 times. He used to shoo the doctor away and pop, he’d have a blood sample. He was that good, I’d call his name in the ER in the hope he was working and I’d see him again. He also done the big cyst under my arm so thank you to him and all the nurses working tirelessly to take care of those in need.
I just wanna thank the nurse I kicked in the ribs while giving birth to my lovely daughter. She cam back the next day with a smile on her face to look after me. 😀
I want to say thank you to the nurse in Tallaght Hospital who sat and reassured me over a cup of tea when I told her I was nervous about having my first x-ray. She made that day a lot easier.

To those nurses who cared for my parents when ill – Thank you for the compassion at a vulnerable time. It’s the small kind acts that make such a difference. Nurses are angels in our midst.

A nurse is not just qualified to deal with sickness but they have to be able to deal with mind, soul and body. They administer medicine but they also administer love and kindness. Without nurses in the hospital, they wouldn’t work at all.
Thank you to the nurses in Basant Sahney Hospital, Secunderabad – India for taking good care of me and making sure I survived when I fell ill. I was in a foreign country, unable to speak the language and very stressed as a result of that however the care I received was second to none and I have been back to India twice since. A very happy International Nurses Day to all the nurses around the world.
I would like to thank the nurses who looked after and really care for me and my family. Thank you for helping me during my arthroscopy, thank you for looking after my dad during and after his surgery and thank you for taking care of my mum when she was in a diabetic coma. We are all so grateful for all the dedicated hard work and for the fantastic care provided by the nurses in Spire Hospital – Leicester, Leicester General Hospital and Glenfield Hospital. This was my first pregnancy. I had my baby at the Evergreen Health Centre in Seattle. The nursing care I received post cesarean was superlative. The nurses were with me round the clock. They anticipated my needs and were an amazing support.
I would like to mention my little sister Amuliya this International Nurses Day. She is studying to be a nurse. Amuliya, you have the compassion and now the knowledge to know what needs to be done. You will make a SUPER DUPER nurse! Happy International Nurses Day!

“I lecture at a Nursing college in India where I teach English.
Interestingly, their first year syllabus included lessons on Florence Nightengale, Clara Barton, Mother Theresa, Baba Amte and a poem called, ‘Thank the Nurse.’ A few lines stand out to me.
Oh, the doctor is important,
Of that we can’t deny.
But when you get down to it,
It’s the nurse that keeps you alive.
The one who cleans your body,
And bandages your wounds,
The one who makes your bed,
Gives you medicine and food,
Helps you through your contractions,
Until the pain subsides,
Encourages you to make it,
Till you hear your baby cry.
Thank the nurse that’s nursing you,
The one that nursed you through.
Thank the nurse that’s saving you
For saving your life.
The poem is much longer but this part has always touched the mother in me. Thank you for the life saving care you give. “

Nurses are the backbone of our health services. Without them the Service would collapse. They are dedicated, hardworking processionals whose commitment and loyalty to their patients is admirable.
Nurses are the backbone of hospitals, they do so much work that we couldn’t even begin to comprehend and they must be celebrated, appreciated and supported by the whole world.
Thank you so much for looking after my son during your internship year. You made an extremely stressful time much easier on the dayward there.
The triage and ED nurses were incredibly calm, patient and helpful in helping me through my terrible fear of needles when I had to get stitches in my hand last year. Thanks so much!
Thank you to all the nursing staff at the national maternity Hospital, they have a tough job when they have to deliver bad news and they handle it very professionally and with a caring touch. I cant remember the nurses name but she made myself and my partner feel at ease and answered all our questions as best she could. A sincere thank you
On behalf of my family and I would like all the nurses in Crumlin Children’s hospital. Also Tullamore and Mullingar. We were treated with such respect and expert care .
My husband has been going through some medical issues but the dedication and care that the nurses of the plastics unit in Roscommon General hospital has been amazing. They are the kindest, caring people that we have met. Then in Galway Clinic meeting with Mary and all the nurses of the Radiotherapy unit showing their kindness and taking time to explain everything that was happening. Thank you all for your wonderful gift of care.
