  1. I want to nominate Nurse Leme from St. Christopher’s ward in Saint Vincent’s Hospital…. She’s exceptional, kind & friendly & will go the extra mile to help you out .. signed Peter Cullen.

  2. Regarding the Nurse nomination campaign, I wholeheartedly nominate Nurse Rachel who is a CNM1 in the Anne Young Ward, St James’s Hospital, Dublin. She was fantastic with our Mum who was dying. Rachel was so kind and most helpful, doing whatever she could do to help our Mum, who was so vulnerable. I thank God for Rachel, who was like an Angel in disguise for our Mum!

  3. My dear Mam lives in Co Louth and she has a wonderful and loving nurse/carer who has the standards that our former matrons would be very proud of

Heath Service Executive (HSE) Nurse/carer name Veronica

I live near Belfast so it’s such a peace to know Mam is looked after by such a wonderful lady

    Thank you

    Sharon

  4. The Nurse I’m nominating is JOY, she works @ St. MARY’S Hospital Dublin. She is the very best in the world; very caring and dedicated. She is a fantastic nurse and a virtous woman.

  5. This goes out to 4 very special nurses at St Patrick’s Special School in Enniscorthy. Edel, Nancy, Clodagh and Ann, deal with the most beautiful, vulnerable children between ages of 4-18. There are many complex and diverse needs, some students are taken before they bloom and these women face each day with compassion, love, respect and care that goes way beyond they job description. They tend to the needs of families, to staff, to students and the community. They are health care, mental support, chocolate suppliers, a warm hug and sounding noard. They are truly healing balm on any given day, and I want them to know how valuable and worthy of praise, they are.

  6. My mum, Anita is a caring and hardworking nurse who helps people every day. She has a kind heart and always puts others first, like when she quit her full time nursing job to take care of my dad when he was very sick who then passed on in 2024. Being a nurse is not easy, but my mum loves doing her job she does it with strength, patience, and compassion she is very devoted to being a nurse. She brings comfort to people when they are sick or scared, and her work makes a real difference in many lives. Im very proud to be her daughter because she is not only a great nurse, but also a loving and inspiring person.

    Happy international nursing day Mum!!!!😊

  7. We nominate Shijimol working in St. Vincent’s hospital. Great service and compassionate. Empathy and faith is her highlight. Thomas.

  8. Hi, I really want to nominate a particular nurse but am a bit shy to go on vn. Would it be possible to mention: one nurse was there for me day and night for many years as I have ongoing health issues but especially during COVID when I had an ulcer on my leg and she was amazing and went above and beyond to get me through the right channels and reassured me constantly. I’ll never forget her care and kindness. Thanks,  if you can, it would be so great, as I’ve been in the hospital system mental and physical for 40 years now and I’ve the utmost respect for all they do. They really are true angels 😇❤️

  9. Hello, my name is Sheila Walsh, I would like to nominate my aunt Therese, a public health nurse based in Kilkenny city. She is a loving, caring mother to her own teenage and adult boys. She is also famous amoung new parents in Kilkenny city for her amazing energy and enthusiasm when she meets the newborn babies, for their visits. She has been known to turn up as Mrs. Clause at times and come to the rescue of many new mothers, including myself. She has 14 grand nieces and nephews, all of which try to attend her services at work and those who cant, she has on call 24/7. She works an additional caring job at the weekend. She runs an annual park run in memory of her beloved son Cian, she volunteers for choirs and pantos and once a year she actually sits down for a Baileys coffee……..

  25. A big thanks and huge appreciation to Linchu, Ger, Cristine, Caroline, Mary, Helena and Linda in oncology day ward at naas hospital. The care at naas hospital from all the staff has been fantastic, but these ladies are amazing! They welcome each and every patient with a smile, they laugh, chat , joke….they know how to put a positive spin on chemo treatment and I always leave appointments feeling positive, happy and in a good mood! Thanks for everything 😊💕

  26. I had surgery in Mullingar Hospital in October 2025. Things were not as straight forward as they had first appeared to be and things didn’t go at all to plan. I was in hospital for 5 nights. During this time I experienced the exceptional kindness and care of the nurses on the Gynea ward. I want to thank them all but a special “Thank You” to Ceppie who looked after me when I was at my lowest. The care she gave me was second to none and I will be eternally grateful to her for holding my hand at the scariest time of my life. Keep up the good work ladies. You don’t get half the recognition that you deserve.

  27. Sandra Nurse Lionsvilla.

Wow what a nurse – always listening, kind & friendly with the patients of the unit..

He really is a great nurse and deserves the recognition for all his hard work.

    Tina W

  28. Recently, in St Vincent’s Hospital, I was transferred from ED to St Andrews Ward to stay on a trolley in the corridor. The staff there were amazing and could not have done enough – especially Sid/Sean, Ed & Ciara. They introduced themselves, reassured me that I was safe, if I needed anything, just call.

I had a great view of how they treated their patients from the CNM, to staff nurses and catering staff.

They were fantastic with all their patients, no ask was to big or to small and they were engaging.

  29. Kudos to St Vincent’s Hospital, AMU Nurse Practitioner Aisling. I was recently diagnosed with an excessive blood clot, Aisling was open to all my questions and gave me her best & future knowledge.

I felt seen by Aisling and not overlooked, she instilled confidence in my day to day life tasks.

  30. Susan A – Steeple House Clondalkin.

Goes above & beyond her duties and does it all with a smile.

Not only dealing with patients but staff also. Be nice for her to feel appreciated and realise none of what she does goes unnoticed.

Thanks for always been your bubbly helpful self.

    Stephen B

  31. thanks so much to all the nurses of the world. So much of what you do behind the scenes go unnoticed!

  32. I’ll never forget when my little sister told us she’d done CPR for the first time when she started working in a hospital. Thank you to her and all the other nurses like Lea who demonstrate compassion, perseverance, and care when people need it the most.

  33. I have so much admiration for nurses, not only for their medical skills but for their kindness and humanity. I’ve seen how much of a difference those small, caring moments can make. I remember when my grandfather had surgery and was feeling scared and emotional — a nurse bent the rules so both his granddaughters could go in and comfort him. Another time, when my sister was in labor during COVID and couldn’t have anyone with her, a nurse quietly let me in for five minutes because she knew how much she needed it.

These moments might seem small, but they mean everything. They show that nursing is not just a profession, but a deeply human act of care, empathy and compassion.

Thank you to all the incredible nurses for going beyond what’s expected and for making such a difference in people’s lives every single day!!
